Roulette is a casino and gambling game named after the French word meaning 'small wheel'. In the game, players may choose to place bets on a number, a range of numbers, the color red or black, or whether the number is odd or even. O determine the winning number and color, a croupier spins a wheel in one direction, and then spins a ball in the opposite direction around a tilted. American roulette – This type of roulette has 38 sections on the roulette wheel (0, 00 and number s from 1 to 36). The number of possible outcomes is different, but the multiples of your bet you get when you win are the same. That means American roulette has a worse RTP (94.74%) than European roulette (97.3%). You should therefore play.

European Roulette Instructions

Here is the traditional Roulette game that most people outside of the United States are familiar with. European roulette has a couple of significant differences over the American version of the game. The biggest difference is that there is only a 0 and no 00 on the table. This cuts the house advantage in half compared to American roulette.

To get started, click on one of the 4 chip sizes (.25, 1, 5 or 25) to add that amount to your bet. You will see this added to the Amount to Bet Per Click. If you would like to remove one or more chips, click on the chips above Amount to Bet Per Click to remove it from that stack.

Then, hover over the roulette table with the mouse and you will be able to see the different bets that you can place. You can put a chip on one or more numbers on the roulette table. The numbers you bet on will be based on where you place the chips on the table.

Take a look at the picture on the right. It shows a bet being placed on 6 numbers at the same time. My mouse cursor is directly where the comment box is pointing. You can bet on multiple numbers by placing chips on the lines between numbers.

Bets can also be placed on groups of numbers by placing chips on one of the 2:1 or 1:1 bets. There is also a second oval track with numbers on it. This is called the Announce Bets. I will explain these bets below.

Once you have placed your bets on the roulette table, click the Spin button to initiate the ball being spun around the cylinder. Once the ball lands, any winnings will be returned and any losing bets will be removed from the table. You will have the option to Repeat your previous bet if you don't want to redo it every time.

European Roulette Betting

Here are the basic bets on the European Roulette table and the payouts for each:

  • Single Number Bet - 35 to 1 payout; this bet is placed in the middle of the number.
  • Two Number Bets - 17 to 1 payout; this bet is placed on the line between two numbers.
  • Three Number Bets - 11 to 1 payout; this bet is placed on the outside line of a column of 3 numbers.
  • Four Number Bets - 8 to 1 payout; this bet is placed where the four corners of the numbers meet.
  • Six Number Bets - 5 to 1 payout; this bet is placed on the outside line where the 2 columns meet.
  • Twelve Number Bets - 2 to 1 payout; bet can be placed on a 2 to 1 Rows or 1st 12, 2nd 12 and 3rd 12.
  • Eighteen Number Bets - 1 to 1 payout; bet can be placed on Red/Black, Odd/Even or 1-18/19-36.

Announce Betting

These bets are placed on the Oval track that is next to the normal roulette table. If you hover on a number in this track, you will see 5 numbers light up on the roulette table.

The Announce Bet area is set up exactly the same as the numbers are on the roulette wheel. When you place this type of Announce Bet, you will actually be placing 5 single number bets on the roulette table. These 5 number include the number you click on and the two numbers immediately to the left and right on the roulette table. In this way, you are betting on a 5 number slice of the roulette table.

There are also three more betting areas in the center of the Announce betting area: Voisins du Zero (neighbors of zero), Tiers du Cylindre (third of the cylinder) and Orphans (numbers not in Voisins du Zero or Tiers du Cylindre). Each of these bets are unique because they place several bets on the roulette table; most bets cover 2 numbers, but some bets cover 1, 3 or 4 numbers as well.

To play roulette, select your chip amount in the bottom left corner. Place your bets on any of the squares on the roulette board in an attempt to guess which number will come up after the wheel spin. For the numbers, you may place bets on one space alone, in between two spaces, or in the corner of four spaces. Once all your bets are placed, click the Spin button for the ball to drop into the wheel which will begin spinning. Watch the ball as it settles into a slot, which determines which number is the winner. Winnings are doled out, losing bets are cleared away, and the process starts again!

Winning Roulette Payouts are as follows: 35 to 1 for a bet on a single number; 17 to 1 for a double number bet; a three number bet pays 11 to 1; A corner four number bet pays 8 to 1; A six number bet pays 5 to 1; a column bet pays 2 to 1; And a bet on the even outside bets pays 1 to 1.

  • A simple Roulette strategy is to place a bet on red or black. Double up on your bet each time you lose until you get your money back.
  • Another Roulette game strategy highlights betting high when you win, and betting low when you lose.
  • A mathematical roulette strategy says you should increase your bet by 1 each time you lose.
